My new homepage is finally set up

My new homepage petermerkert.com is finally set up. The site is based on Flash and ActionScript 2. It took me about 40 hours to complete the page.

Have you already heared of LEGO Mindstorms? Doesn’t matter if you didn’t, because this applies to the most people. LEGO Mindstorms is a section of LEGO with the focus on robotic.

I’ve bought it a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. Yesterday there were some betatest with it (e.g. driving on the black line on the testpad). My focus is to program these robots. In Wikipedia is an article about Mindsotrms and how you can program them. LEGO delivers, beside the robot, a manual with a disc. On the disc is an easy drag-and-drop editor. The possibilities with the editor are quite few and I decided to program it with other programminglanguages.

I chose leJOS (Java for NXT).

And today I setup the GUI (Java-Editor) and bought a bluetooth dongle. I connected my NXT with my PC and the Java-Editor found the device. My first program was very very simple, but I felt great after I saw it working.

I’ve just listened to a podcast about robots (here [german only]) and I thought it would be really nice to program a robot on my own.

LEGO offers a package called “Mindstorms” and that are LEGO robots. You can build them and program them. Seconds ago I bought the newest one called “Mindstorms NXT 2.0″. I’m looking forward to create one

How to pass variables inside ActionScript to Javascript

If you want to call a Javascript function inside ActionScript, you can just take this basis:

getURL(“javascript:showpicture(‘images/example.jpg)”);

In addition if you don’t want to hardcode the image which has to be taken for this function, you need variables. But how to pass variables from Flash to Javascript? Here is the solution:

var example:String = “images/example.jpg”;

getURL (“javascript:showpicture(\”"+example+”\”)”);

Very much of the “, but this will work!

Syncronize your iTouch/iPhone with Winamp?

If you are using the awesome program Winamp for organizing your music then you might be at a dead end if you try to snychronize your iPhone with Winamp. Well, Winamp has a tool for snychronization, but it was coded for the old iPod versions and not the future ones. But keep your tail up!

Winamp’s tool for synchronazation is called ml_ipod. It’s just a normal plugin downloadable from CHIP and equal. Click here to get to the download site!

And now Winamp should detect your iPod and ask for your type. I think ITouch and equal were recently added. Then you can see your music on the iPod. Don’t be shocked, if there is nothing inside and you might have 10 gigs on it. Winamp doesn’t detect your music which was put on it via iTunes.

Now complete the following list step by step and you will be able to synchonize your iTouch/iPhone via Winamp

Before starting, remove all the songs from your iPod using iTunes.
Start Winamp and syncronize your songs to your iPod with ml_ipod as usual.
When you’re done, start up iPhoneBrowser (or SSH/Mobile Terminal) and navigate to /User/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes. Then delete the iTunesCDB file (NOT the iTunesDB file).
Start up iTunes and allow it to find your iPod. If you look in the music
section, you should see all the files syncronized using ml_ipod.
Close iTunes.
You must carry out steps 3-6 whenever adding/removing songs with ml_ipod.

An example brwoser is WinSCP.

If you’ve started WinSCP start a new session with

IP: 192.168.2.100:22

User: root

Password: alpine

Remove Adobe Drive CS4 entry in context menu

To remove the context menu entry of Adobe Drive CS4 you just need to remove these two registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C95FFEAE-A32E-4122-A5C4-49B5BFB69795}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C95FFEAE-A32E-4122-A5C4-49B5BFB69795}

Go to start/run and type in “regedit”. Then navigate to these two keys and right click on them. Then chose the option “remove”. That’s it!

The-West is a Browsergame based on an MMORPG system.

Back in the old Wild West you can create a character and improve your skills:

At level 10 you can choose your character class and with it you have special items or abilities.

The best is, that you don’t have to look every day into the game. You won’t lose anything if your one week away or equal. Further more you are not prompted to pay and you don’t even need to; it’s maybe easier but it’s not necessary.
